Research shows us that people are automatically geared to think that if you appear in a print publiciation, you must be credible.

The other day my own mother told me all about the Royal Family as though she was one of the insiders!  When I asked where she got the information … well, let’s just say I’m not sure I’d believe it.  But then, of course, it was in print. So it must be true, right?

You can get publicity and earn authority by having your name associated with business success in articles, blogposts, audios, videos and more.

The good news is that you don’t have to wait for a reporter or author to write about you.  You can write about yourself in third person OR as an expert who is teaching what they know.  This gives you the content to publish your own information online that makes you look like an authority.

There are tons of sites online looking for more content.  Why shouldn’t it be yours?

Today not only will it help you to appear like an authority online but you can also use that authority to make money by creating your own information products.

Now if you don’t know what an information product is, no problem.  If you’ve ever bought a book, you know what an information product would be.

If that book is published where it can be bought and downloaded on the internet then it’s also an information product.  If that book, called an ebook, is written by you and sold by you online … all the better! Because it can become an income product generator for you.

There is a new training center for entrepeneurs and people who want to work from home and publish online that is going up now.  Take a look at Instant Expert Blueprint or check out the facebook page by searching for expert blueprint.

Womencorp also has a lot of information on how to succeed in business so look around and check out the categories depending on what you’re interested in learning.

Building Self Confidence The Easy Way: The Art of Looking Successful http://www.womencorp.org/building-self-confidence-the-easy-way-the-art-of-looking-successful/ http://www.womencorp.org/building-self-confidence-the-easy-way-the-art-of-looking-successful/#comments Tue, 28 Aug 2012 20:58:20 +0000 http://www.womencorp.org/?p=463 Standing in front of an audience of a thousand people all looking expectantly up at her as she stood awkwardly behind a microphone, she was nervous but excited too.

Just a year before she couldn’t speak in front of 15 people, much less a thousand. Her heart would beat so fast that she felt like she might die standing in front of a small crowd.  Something felt very different this time for her and that was a good thing.

Have you ever felt that way?

If you have an issue with low self-confidence it can be painful. I know how it feels because I use to be just like you.

Low self esteem is a very real problem because it can:

1. Make you feel negative all the time

2. Lead to overeating, panic attacks or other symptoms of low self confidence

3. Cause you to think you’ll never succeed in building self confidence

That can be repaired with a few simple techniques that work to alleviate negative feelings in the short term and restore feelings of confidence and well-being over time.

However, remember this… If you feel you are depressed, get help now!

Suffice it to say, if you feel that you are depressed PLEASE go see a doctor and get help right away.

There is a strategy used by actors that can work for you!  This can help you in self confidence building just like exercise helps build strength.

You’ll feel the positive results once you focus on building self confidence.

That strategy is called ‘method acting’.

The reason it works in self confidence buildings is that even for those of us who are not trained actors we FEEL more when we act certain ways.

Modeling successful people is an age old strategy, called ‘method acting’ that still works today. In fact, do it long enough and you begin to behave in that manner even when you’re not trying. Basically you will BE the model, feeling better and building self confidence all along the way.

For example take a moment to smile really big and put a little enthusiasm in it. If a negative thought pops up while you are doing this just visualize putting a big ‘X’ over that thought and shoo it away.

Now are you finding it easy to banish negative thinking?

If so, that’s because you put the feeling into the action when you smiled with enthusiasm.

Do you know someone right away you could model?  If so, visualize them and make their actions something to study.

Any time you are in a position where you need to rely on looking self-confident just call that person to mind. Every time you visualize them, see, feel and think like they would.

You will feel lighter, more energetic and it won’t just be one section of your body that is affect! You’ll feel it everywhere. It is scientifically proven!

You’ll feel everything you ‘act’ inside your heart and whole body. Interestingly, when other people see you act in confident ways they begin to treat you as though you are a person who’s confident which can boost your confidence even further.

To understand how that is possible, consider how you feel about successful people. Do you admire them, respect and treat them with a little more authority?

The fact is people like to hire, buy from, work with those they feel are already successful.

Notice how people gravitate toward speakers, politicians and business people who they feel have the power of success already built in their being.

That is the power of appearing self confident even if you’re not.

It may sound a little hokey, but it works. Just by acting successful, people will assume that you are.

You can also boost positive thinking and confidence these other ways:

1. Dress nicely How you feel about yourself is often affected by the very clothes you wear.

2. Stand straight. Those who feel good tend to stand straight. You can affect a lot of how you feel just by doing this. No slumping! The way you stand can have a real effect on reducing confidence.

3. to inspire yourself is easy when you surround yourself with books, tapes and inspired people.

You remember the girl I talked about at the beginning?  That was me.   After years of feeling such fear, it was such a relief to let go and soar.  You can too!

Make a pledge today to start with little steps and work your way up. You’re life will be changed forever when you do.

Will Breast Implants Work for Cancer Survivors? http://www.womencorp.org/will-breast-implants-work-for-cancer-survivors/ http://www.womencorp.org/will-breast-implants-work-for-cancer-survivors/#comments Tue, 14 Jun 2011 16:02:14 +0000 http://www.womencorp.org/?p=453 For those who feel as if cancer has stolen too much of their lives and bodies, breast augmentation can assist in the recovery process. Since their invention in 1962, silicone and saline breast implants have become the 杜ost studied device in medical history” according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. While there have always been concerns about potential damage from these foreign objects affecting connecting tissues or even increasing cancer risks, studies seem to prove that they are safe for even cancer survivors.

After an extensive long-term study of more than 13,500 women who had breast augmentation during 1962989, it has been concluded that there is no increased risk for women who choose breast enhancement. In 2006, the FDA-imposed ban on silicone gel implants was lifted, and today more than $820 million a year is spent on cosmetic and restorative breast surgery.

Earlier this year, the FDA once more expressed some concern about a possible link between breast implants and a very rare form of lymphoma, anaplastic large cell lymphoma. However, the actual number of cases is too small to be statistically significant. Women actually have a better chance of being hit by lightning than contracting this cancer from a breast implant.

For women who have struggled through breast cancer, choosing augmentation and reconstructive surgery with breast implants is a way to regain self-esteem and a feeling of normalcy. While the implants never feel exactly like the original breast tissue, they can restore a more natural silhouette and avoid the use of awkward exterior prosthetic. Feeling attractive again is important to emotional recovery from the loss of one or both breasts. Breast implant recovery is usually uneventful.

Either at the time of the mastectomy or at a later date, a plastic surgeon will stretch or expand the remaining breast skin by inserting a balloon-like device and gradually increasing the volume of saline in it. The process may take up to six months. After all chemotherapy and radiation treatments are completed, the doctor will either seal off the expander as an implant or replace it with a silicone or saline unit. There is a slightly increased risk of the surrounding scar tissue becoming hardened for women who have had radiation. Massage and exercise can reduce this tendency.

Other risks include poor wound healing, slow breast implant recovery, deflation through leakage or rupture, protrusion through the skin, future corrective surgery, infection and bleeding. Side effects may include tiredness and pain that is manageable with OTC medications. Permanent scarring will fade over time. Normal activities may be resumed after six weeks although some women report taking much longer to feel fully healed. For the majority of cancer-surviving women, breast augmentation is a way of taking back control of their bodies, a decision that proves that life can go on and life can be beautiful once more.

Take action: Send a butterfly of hope to women and girls in Nicaragua http://www.womencorp.org/take-action-send-a-butterfly-of-hope-to-women-and-girls-in-nicaragua/ http://www.womencorp.org/take-action-send-a-butterfly-of-hope-to-women-and-girls-in-nicaragua/#respond Wed, 08 Jun 2011 09:29:35 +0000 http://www.womencorp.org/?p=448 Nicaragua Butterfly action

“The butterfly (la mariposa) for us is a symbol of the desire to realise our dreams, spread our wings… fighting with the strength of our rights.”
Martha Munguiá, Nicaraguan Alliance of Women’s Centres

Rape and sexual abuse is widespread in Nicaragua, and two-thirds of reported rapes are against girls and young women under the age of 17. Please stand in solidarity with these young women and help make their voices heard by sending a butterfly and a message of hope in time for their demonstration in September. Take action: create a butterfly

Young survivors face extra trauma if they become pregnant because of the rape. For these women and girls the idea of giving birth may be unbearable, and the younger they are, the greater the danger to their health. But in Nicaragua they have no choice.

Since 2008, the law has made all forms of abortion in all circumstances a crime, even where the health and life of the woman is in danger or where she is the victim of rape or incest.

There is little or no help from the government who have failed to prevent sexual abuse and to provide care to survivors or to guarantee they receive justice and reparation. Young rape survivors need psychological, medical and legal support and help to rebuild their lives.

On 28 September 2011 women’s organisations and the Nicaraguan people will be marching to demand the repeal of the country’s total abortion ban and an end to widespread violence against women and girls.

Your solidarity will help carry the words of women and girls in Nicaragua one step closer to their government. Together we can make the government listen and act to protect the rights of girls and women. Please create a butterfly today

Neotrope Joins Sponsors of Self-Publishers Online Conference 2010 http://www.womencorp.org/neotrope-joins-sponsors-of-self-publishers-online-conference-2010/ http://www.womencorp.org/neotrope-joins-sponsors-of-self-publishers-online-conference-2010/#respond Tue, 11 May 2010 13:11:30 +0000 http://www.womencorp.org/?p=434 Edited by Debra Tone

Self Publishers Online Conference Authors Receive Self-Publisher Education and Book Promotion Discounts at Virtual Conference.

TORRANCE, Calif., April 13 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Neotrope today announced it has joined in sponsoring the second annual Self-Publishers Online Conference (SPOC), a three-day virtual event that features a total of 15 expert speakers, and which will take place May 12-14, 2010. Neotrope’s Send2Press® Newswire service (www.Send2Press.com) will be providing both promotional services for the event, as well as discounts on book promotion packages for attending book authors and small publishers.

“The book publishing industry is evolving, but one thing remains constant: the need to get the word out about new titles. Independent publishers, authors, and self-publishers can learn the latest about self-publishing and receive promotional discounts by attending the event,” said event co-founder, Susan Daffron, of Logical Expressions, Inc. “We’ve used Neotrope’s Send2Press services to promote our own books and we’re thrilled to have them as a sponsor.”

SPOC encourages aspiring authors to “Live Long and Publish” during the three-day virtual event that features 15 expert speakers, including Dan Poynter, Fern Reiss, Mark Victor Hansen, and 12 others. At SPOC, attendees can listen to presentations, browse the online exhibit hall of book industry vendors, and participate in Q&A roundtables and online discussions — all from the comfort of their desk.

“We’re excited to be part of this year’s event,” said Neotrope CEO Christopher Simmons. “The trend to virtual trade shows has been accelerating this year and the line-up of talent for SPOC is particularly impressive — a virtual event is ideal for bringing together such a wide variety of voices and expertise while making it cost effective for anyone to attend.”

He added, “I got my start in self-publishing as a teenage entrepreneur in the late 1970s, and there were no resources back then to learn how to do this. Now, events like SPOC can provide an invaluable education for new authors, and small publishers who want to take things to the next level.”

About Neotrope and Send2Press:
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2010, Send2Press (a service of Neotrope) offers best-in-class affordable news distribution directly to working print and broadcast media, but also online and social media, and deep into search engines using proprietary ContextEngine® technology. Send2Press is unique because it was the first newswire service with staff entirely comprised of accredited public relations professionals, published authors, working journalists, and marketing experts.

Established in 1983 by creative guru Christopher Laird Simmons (a member of ASCAP and PRSA), and best-selling author J.L. Simmons, PhD, Neotrope® is a privately held company involved in brand marketing as well as entertainment publishing. Neotrope was an Inc. 5000 company in 2009. For more information about Neotrope, visit: www.Neotrope.com.

About the Self-Publishers Online Conference:
SPOC is the brainchild of Logical Expressions, Inc., a software and book publishing company based in Sandpoint, Idaho. President Susan Daffron says, “Because of the economy, fewer people are going to big publishing shows like Book Expo. I’m in Idaho and getting to New York isn’t exactly a picnic! We knew we weren’t the only publishers who wanted easier access to book publishing education and information, so that’s why we created SPOC last year. Our goal is to help more people learn how they can self-publish quality books, so anyone can attend SPOC live for free.”

Attendees can register online at SelfPublishersOnlineConference.com. A free Basic attendance pass gives participants live call-in access to the teleseminars, a log in for the exhibit hall and discussion area where they can ask questions and “virtually mingle” with other authors and publishers, and access sponsor benefits, including the discount code on the book promotion package from Send2Press. Paid Standard and Premium passes offer access to the seminar recordings and a wide range of additional bonus materials.

For more information about the Self-Publishers Online Conference, visit the Web site at SelfPublishersOnlineConference.com. For information about Logical Expressions, Inc. visit: www.LogicalExpressions.com.

Facts About Marriage http://www.womencorp.org/facts-about-marriage/ http://www.womencorp.org/facts-about-marriage/#respond Sat, 27 Mar 2010 23:23:13 +0000 http://www.womencorp.org/?p=427 Marriage helps people to generate income and wealth.

Compared to those who merely live together, people who marry become economically better off. Men become more productive after marriage; they earn between ten and forty percent more than do single men with similar education and job histories. Marital social norms that encourage healthy, productive behavior and wealth accumulation play a role. Some of the greater wealth of married couples results from their more efficient specialization and pooling of resources, and because they save more. Married people also receive more money from family members than the unmarried (including cohabiting couples), probably because families consider marriage more permanent and more binding than a living-together union.

People who are married are more likely to have emotionally and physically satisfying sex lives than single people or those who just live together.

Contrary to the popular belief that married sex is boring and infrequent, married people report higher levels of sexual satisfaction than both sexually active singles and cohabiting couples, according to the most comprehensive and recent survey of sexuality. Forty-two percent of wives said that they found sex extremely emotionally and physically satisfying, compared to just 31 percent of single women who had a sex partner. And 48 percent of husbands said sex was extremely satisfying emotionally, compared to just 37 percent of cohabiting men. The higher level of commitment in marriage is probably the reason for the high level of reported sexual satisfaction; marital commitment contributes to a greater sense of trust and security, less drug and alcohol-infused sex, and more mutual communication between the couple.

People who grow up in a family broken by divorce are slightly less likely to marry, and much more likely to divorce when they do marry.

According to one study the divorce risk nearly triples if one marries someone who also comes from a broken home. The increased risk is much lower, however, if the marital partner is someone who grew up in a happy, intact family.

For large segments of the population, the risk of divorce is far below fifty percent.

Although the overall divorce rate in America remains close to fifty percent of all marriages, it has been dropping gradually over the past two decades. Also, the risk of divorce is far below fifty percent for educated people going into their first marriage, and lower still for people who wait to marry at least until their mid-twenties, haven’t lived with many different partners prior to marriage, or are strongly religious and marry someone of the same faith.

The idea for this video is mainly based on the book The Elephant and the Dragon” of Robyn Meredith.

Hiring Financial Help http://www.womencorp.org/hiring-financial-help/ http://www.womencorp.org/hiring-financial-help/#respond Sat, 16 May 2009 18:49:30 +0000 http://www.womencorp.org/?p=395 Things to Know:

1. Anyone can call himself a planner.

To avoid amateurs, hire a planner who’s earned special credentials (such as a Certified Financial Planner or Personal Financial Specialist designation) by meeting training standards or having a certain level of experience.

2. Planning is more than investing.

Not all planners offer comprehensive services. Some just give investment advice or focus on one aspect of planning, such as insurance or taxes.

3. Expand your choices.

When hiring a planner, interview at least three pros to find the one who can deliver the services you need and who’s compatible with your style.

Ab Coaster: Another ab machine that will end up in your garage? http://www.womencorp.org/ab-coaster-another-ab-machine-that-will-end-up-in-your-garage/ http://www.womencorp.org/ab-coaster-another-ab-machine-that-will-end-up-in-your-garage/#comments Sat, 16 May 2009 18:49:22 +0000 http://www.womencorp.org/?p=394 ab_coasterI rarely do ab exercises anymore and my abs are firmer and flatter than ever before!!! Yes, you read that correctly. Once a trainer told me many years ago that you cannot target train (aka train to lose weight in one part of your body without losing in other parts of your body)  to lose fat in one specific part of your body and that you needed an overall fat lost plan to be successful, that was the end of my torturous sit-ups (which I never enjoyed doing in the first place).

These days, I work out my core with exercises that are inspired from Pilates and yoga. I also do a number of core exercises on the floor, the bench and I even do one with the cable machine (this one can easily be done with an exercise elastic band as well).

Also, when I do any type of exercise, I make a point of contracting my abs and holding my core as steady and strong as possible, so I’m basically working my abs along the way and not waiting until the end of my workout to sit on a mat and do 500 sit-ups.

Every year, there is a new batch of ab machines that hits the late night air waves (aka late night  infomercials that I like watching so much) and the market to lure couch potatoes in changing their ways.

As I was channel surfing (late one night), I saw an advert for the Ab Coaster. You should have seen my face because the minute I knew what this was all about, I was already rolling my eyes.

Wait a minute, I’m mistaken, I didn’t see the Ab Coaster for the first time on an infomercial, but rather on the Shopping Channel. From what I could see, the Ab Coaster is a fairly big machine and I don’t think you can fold it and hide it anywhere in your home. The whole point of the Ab Coaster is to help you perform assisted leg-pull-ups (where you pull your legs to your chest to create a crunch effect). I see really strong guys doing this exercise unassisted at the gym by gripping the top of the cable machine and lifting their legs to their chest while swinging in mid air. I’ve even seen many guys add up to 90 lbs of weight (they grip the weight with their feet) and do those types of leg-pull-ups and I can assure you it does NOT look easy.

I guess, the manufacturer of the Ab Coaster thought they would be offering the same benefits.

Now, my problem with this machine and pretty much every home-exercise-machine that I’ve ever seen (other than the Boxflex which is on a totally different planet of effectiveness) is that none of them take into consideration two important things: 1) boredom from performing the same-old-same-old exercise rain or shine 2) lack of muscle confusion. When you keep doing the same exercise, you will see results early in the game, but will quickly plateau as your body gets comfortable with the movements.

To be fair to the manufacturer, I’ve not tried their Ab Coaster machine, but at $349 CAD/$399 US (you’ll be paying 4 payments of $99.95), it begs the question:

“Will the Ab Coaster really deliver results or will this be yet another exercise machine that ends up in your garage?”

I’ve done a few searches on YouTube and found videos or a number of people who seem to be suggesting that they are getting good results from their Ab Coaster machine.

I’d love to know if any of my readers have had such great results. If you’ve tried the Ab Coaster, don’t be shy in leaving a comment below!
