How a book on basic math led me to my dream job!

I graduated from college and I couldn't do basic math! That's a fact. I don't know how I did it but I managed to go all the way through school without knowing much beyond 5x6 in the multiplication tables.

It took me 20 years to discover the real problem was the gap in my education. I always believed it was just because I wasn't good at math.

To get the career of my dreams I had to pass employers tests, which always held the dreaded “math” portion. No matter how much the employer liked me, I couldn't get around it. I had to learn math.

So I bought a basic math book that showed the research on people who thought they weren't good at math. Seems they weren't dumb, they just missed a step.

Once I discovered where the problem was, I could solve it.

And…you guessed it! My next application turned into my next job – as a financial consultant! I went on to a wonderful 12 years of working with clients and helping them understand numbers. 

The moral is…if you keep avoiding whatever blocks your path to success it will just keep tripping you up later on. Face it head on, remove it as an obstacle and see what a difference it will make in your life.
