How to interact with Twitter
By John Rothko
A lot of people, and that includes me, do not exactly understand how Twitter works, as it is quite confusing in many ways. But I stumbled upon an interesting article that more or less explains the various types of conversations that go on and how to blend in.
That said, I’m a couple of months on Twitter now and I’m not an expert, but from what I have seen, I think that when you are a business, meaning, you want to use Twitter to sell your products or lead traffic to your site, you should not try to act as if you are a natural person happening to hang around there (as many gurus tell you to do). Because that is like being a wolf dressed as a sheep, and trust me, people on Twitter are not stupid. So, whatever you do, if you are business, behave as business . If you have something interesting to sell, people will follow you without the charade.
But it helps if you understand Twitter, and this article gives you a clear overview: http://www.twitip.com/the-fine-art-of-balancing-your-twitter-conversations/
