Authors Receive Self-Publisher Education and Book Promotion Discounts at Virtual Conference.

TORRANCE, Calif., April 13 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Neotrope today announced it has joined in sponsoring the second annual Self-Publishers Online Conference (SPOC), a three-day virtual event that features a total of 15 expert speakers, and which will take place May 12-14, 2010. Neotrope’s Send2Press® Newswire service (www.Send2Press.com) will be providing both promotional services for the event, as well as discounts on book promotion packages for attending book authors and small publishers.

“The book publishing industry is evolving, but one thing remains constant: the need to get the word out about new titles. Independent publishers, authors, and self-publishers can learn the latest about self-publishing and receive promotional discounts by attending the event,” said event co-founder, Susan Daffron, of Logical Expressions, Inc. “We’ve used Neotrope’s Send2Press services to promote our own books and we’re thrilled to have them as a sponsor.”

SPOC encourages aspiring authors to “Live Long and Publish” during the three-day virtual event that features 15 expert speakers, including Dan Poynter, Fern Reiss, Mark Victor Hansen, and 12 others. At SPOC, attendees can listen to presentations, browse the online exhibit hall of book industry vendors, and participate in Q&A roundtables and online discussions — all from the comfort of their desk.

“We’re excited to be part of this year’s event,” said Neotrope CEO Christopher Simmons. “The trend to virtual trade shows has been accelerating this year and the line-up of talent for SPOC is particularly impressive — a virtual event is ideal for bringing together such a wide variety of voices and expertise while making it cost effective for anyone to attend.”

He added, “I got my start in self-publishing as a teenage entrepreneur in the late 1970s, and there were no resources back then to learn how to do this. Now, events like SPOC can provide an invaluable education for new authors, and small publishers who want to take things to the next level.”

About Neotrope and Send2Press:
Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2010, Send2Press (a service of Neotrope) offers best-in-class affordable news distribution directly to working print and broadcast media, but also online and social media, and deep into search engines using proprietary ContextEngine® technology. Send2Press is unique because it was the first newswire service with staff entirely comprised of accredited public relations professionals, published authors, working journalists, and marketing experts.

Established in 1983 by creative guru Christopher Laird Simmons (a member of ASCAP and PRSA), and best-selling author J.L. Simmons, PhD, Neotrope® is a privately held company involved in brand marketing as well as entertainment publishing. Neotrope was an Inc. 5000 company in 2009. For more information about Neotrope, visit: www.Neotrope.com.

About the Self-Publishers Online Conference:
SPOC is the brainchild of Logical Expressions, Inc., a software and book publishing company based in Sandpoint, Idaho. President Susan Daffron says, “Because of the economy, fewer people are going to big publishing shows like Book Expo. I’m in Idaho and getting to New York isn’t exactly a picnic! We knew we weren’t the only publishers who wanted easier access to book publishing education and information, so that’s why we created SPOC last year. Our goal is to help more people learn how they can self-publish quality books, so anyone can attend SPOC live for free.”

Attendees can register online at SelfPublishersOnlineConference.com. A free Basic attendance pass gives participants live call-in access to the teleseminars, a log in for the exhibit hall and discussion area where they can ask questions and “virtually mingle” with other authors and publishers, and access sponsor benefits, including the discount code on the book promotion package from Send2Press. Paid Standard and Premium passes offer access to the seminar recordings and a wide range of additional bonus materials.

For more information about the Self-Publishers Online Conference, visit the Web site at SelfPublishersOnlineConference.com.

Marriage helps people to generate income and wealth.

Compared to those who merely live together, people who marry become economically better off. Men become more productive after marriage; they earn between ten and forty percent more than do single men with similar education and job histories. Marital social norms that encourage healthy, productive behavior and wealth accumulation play a role. Some of the greater wealth of married couples results from their more efficient specialization and pooling of resources, and because they save more. Married people also receive more money from family members than the unmarried (including cohabiting couples), probably because families consider marriage more permanent and more binding than a living-together union.

People who are married are more likely to have emotionally and physically satisfying sex lives than single people or those who just live together.

Contrary to the popular belief that married sex is boring and infrequent, married people report higher levels of sexual satisfaction than both sexually active singles and cohabiting couples, according to the most comprehensive and recent survey of sexuality. Forty-two percent of wives said that they found sex extremely emotionally and physically satisfying, compared to just 31 percent of single women who had a sex partner. And 48 percent of husbands said sex was extremely satisfying emotionally, compared to just 37 percent of cohabiting men. The higher level of commitment in marriage is probably the reason for the high level of reported sexual satisfaction; marital commitment contributes to a greater sense of trust and security, less drug and alcohol-infused sex, and more mutual communication between the couple.

People who grow up in a family broken by divorce are slightly less likely to marry, and much more likely to divorce when they do marry.

According to one study the divorce risk nearly triples if one marries someone who also comes from a broken home. The increased risk is much lower, however, if the marital partner is someone who grew up in a happy, intact family.

For large segments of the population, the risk of divorce is far below fifty percent.

Although the overall divorce rate in America remains close to fifty percent of all marriages, it has been dropping gradually over the past two decades. Also, the risk of divorce is far below fifty percent for educated people going into their first marriage, and lower still for people who wait to marry at least until their mid-twenties, haven’t lived with many different partners prior to marriage, or are strongly religious and marry someone of the same faith.

Imagine, I’m walking down the street and suddenly, 12 lightly dressed ladies jump on me from around the corner, expressing the desire to follow me. As a male, it is kind of flattering to be so popular with the ladies, so my first reaction is one of delight, although I confess to have a girlfriend and therefore I am not supposed to have feelings like that, but we are only human. Alas, a closer look reveals them as professional courtesans, to say the least.
What a cold shower! I slump back into the deep depression I came from. Of course, they want to follow me, it figures.

I’m actually talking about Twitter here. Today, no less then 12 supposedly real people started following me. Many of these twitters only have one tweet, generally saying something about nice pics, webcams and what they can do with their female body. You don’t have to be a scientist to deduct that the oldest profession in the World has found Twitter and they are hitting it really hard. Yesterday I had 4 followers, today 12 and the day isn’t over yet. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

The most amazing thing is that when you look at their profile, some people manage to follow them in return. There is one who has already 20 followers while there is nothing to follow except one tweet and a URL to a questionable site.
Some people simply return the favor if someone follows them, without looking who this person actually is. Alas, a lot of these “ladies” are created by owners of certain explicit sites. How do I know that? Because many of the tweets have exactly the same message, from which follows that most of these twitters are not real people at all, just cardboard characters.

Check first who is following you

So, the lesson is that you have to check first who is following you before you return the favor because it can damage your public image if you appear to follow a set of professional ladies of pleasure. It certainly looks rather dumb, whatever your idea about prostitution is. Also, do not click on a URL of a questionable tweet. You do not know where you end up. Although I’m not saying they all do, but some of those sites may contain spyware, so be careful.

I’m avoiding the use of certain words because they it get picked up by search engines and that can have a negative effect on the womenCorp site. Among other embarrassments, GoogleAds can turn up undesirable ads. You would be amazed what the word “woman” on its own can trigger, let alone more explicit words.
If you want to comment on this article, please keep that in mind and shield those words by using metaphores. Thank you for your understanding.

I rarely do ab exercises anymore and my abs are firmer and flatter than ever before!!! Yes, you read that correctly. Once a trainer told me many years ago that you cannot target train (aka train to lose weight in one part of your body without losing in other parts of your body) to lose fat in one specific part of your body and that you needed an overall fat lost plan to be successful, that was the end of my torturous sit-ups (which I never enjoyed doing in the first place).

These days, I work out my core with exercises that are inspired from Pilates and yoga. I also do a number of core exercises on the floor, the bench and I even do one with the cable machine (this one can easily be done with an exercise elastic band as well).

Also, when I do any type of exercise, I make a point of contracting my abs and holding my core as steady and strong as possible, so I’m basically working my abs along the way and not waiting until the end of my workout to sit on a mat and do 500 sit-ups.

Every year, there is a new batch of ab machines that hits the late night air waves (aka late night infomercials that I like watching so much) and the market to lure couch potatoes in changing their ways.

As I was channel surfing (late one night), I saw an advert for the Ab Coaster. You should have seen my face because the minute I knew what this was all about, I was already rolling my eyes.

Wait a minute, I’m mistaken, I didn’t see the Ab Coaster for the first time on an infomercial, but rather on the Shopping Channel. From what I could see, the Ab Coaster is a fairly big machine and I don’t think you can fold it and hide it anywhere in your home. The whole point of the Ab Coaster is to help you perform assisted leg-pull-ups (where you pull your legs to your chest to create a crunch effect). I see really strong guys doing this exercise unassisted at the gym by gripping the top of the cable machine and lifting their legs to their chest while swinging in mid air. I’ve even seen many guys add up to 90 lbs of weight (they grip the weight with their feet) and do those types of leg-pull-ups and I can assure you it does NOT look easy.

I guess, the manufacturer of the Ab Coaster thought they would be offering the same benefits.

Now, my problem with this machine and pretty much every home-exercise-machine that I’ve ever seen (other than the Boxflex which is on a totally different planet of effectiveness) is that none of them take into consideration two important things: 1) boredom from performing the same-old-same-old exercise rain or shine 2) lack of muscle confusion. When you keep doing the same exercise, you will see results early in the game, but will quickly plateau as your body gets comfortable with the movements.

To be fair to the manufacturer, I’ve not tried their Ab Coaster machine, but at $349 CAD/$399 US (you’ll be paying 4 payments of $99.95), it begs the question:

“Will the Ab Coaster really deliver results or will this be yet another exercise machine that ends up in your garage?”

I’ve done a few searches on YouTube and found videos or a number of people who seem to be suggesting that they are getting good results from their Ab Coaster machine.

I’d love to know if any of my readers have had such great results. If you’ve tried the Ab Coaster, don’t be shy in leaving a comment below!

That said, I’m a couple of months on Twitter now and I’m not an expert, but from what I have seen, I think that when you are a business, meaning, you want to use Twitter to sell your products or lead traffic to your site, you should not try to act as if you are a natural person happening to hang around there (as many gurus tell you to do). Because that is like being a wolf dressed as a sheep, and trust me, people on Twitter are not stupid. So, whatever you do, if you are business, behave as business . If you have something interesting to sell, people will follow you without the charade.

But it helps if you understand Twitter, and this article gives you a clear overview: http://www.twitip.com/the-fine-art-of-balancing-your-twitter-conversations/

On the site of American Small business is an article from Paul Boomer with an video example how to get your message effectively across the internet with. It is all about creating a compelling, fun video commercial which people will want to share with their friends and colleagues. Let’s face it, most commercials are dead boring, we are sitting them out while watching TV or we get something from the refrigerator in the hope to be back on time when the movie commences. The internet is different because the viewer has the choice to go away and not to come back without risking to miss anything. Therefore, the regular TV commercial will never make it on the internet, apart from a couple of exceptions. Unless your video commercial is really, and I mean, REALLY interesting, chances that it will be watch until the end are small indeed, so you have to make sure that the viewer is entertained and you will want to keep it short as well.

The video used as an example on the American Small business site is rather compplicated to achieve and that is part of its charm, actually. It is not exactly the ideal example for a start up entrepreneur with a tight budget, but a fun message doesn’t need to be that complicated, of course. Most brilliant ideas are simple. As long as you get a smile on the viewer’s face, your video commercial will have a good chance of going viral on the internet:
